Investment Philosophy

Our investment philosophy is to identify companies which have the ability to create value for investors in the long run and thereby endeavor to achieve the investment objectives of the portfolio. This philosophy revolves around adopting a bottom up approach to identifying and selecting individual investments. The salient features of the bottom up driven investment philosophy includes the following:

  • Focus on Fundamentals
  • Quest for Value
  • Long term Orientation

Our focus is on investing in companies with sound business model, good management and attractive valuations. We adopt buy and hold approach for our investment and an attempt to participate through the entire cycle of value unlocking over longer time frame. Our belief is that the key to generating superior long term returns is to assess the margin of safety, i.e. the difference between the purchase price and the intrinsic value.

The cornerstones of our investment philosophy are:

Fundamental approach
  • Bottom up approach driven by a proprietary fundamental – research process
  • Private equity mindset in public market
  • Doing our homework is far more important than keeping on top of markets
Value discipline
  • Focus on value identification – not on market direction
  • Value lies in the quality of the business, balance sheet and management
  • Value is what you get –price is what you pay
Long-term horizon
  • Buy and hold strategy
  • Monitor investments closely and harvest when value is realized
Concentration
  • Invest in few companies –know them well, understand what matters
  • Conviction enables us to hold through challenging times

We believe in buy & hold strategy, with concentrated holdings in high conviction investment ideas with a long term orientation.
